Do you think you’ll ever?

A friend of mine called me from Minneapolis, and we had been trying to get together for about three months. Our busy schedules kept getting in the way, but finally, he said he would be in Brainerd, my hometown, on Friday night. He asked if we could meet for dinner on Saturday evening at 5:00 pm. I agreed, and we planned to catch up on a bunch of things.

During our dinner, my friend opened up to me about some serious issues he was dealing with in his life. We prayed together and shared our thoughts and experiences. We have known each other for many years, so we have a close bond. As we caught up on what we had been doing and how our businesses were going, my friend suddenly looked at me and asked, “Al, do you think you’ll ever get married again?”

This question took me by surprise. It has been a year and 10 months since my wife passed away and went home to be with Jesus. We were together for 49 years, so her loss has been a major adjustment for me. In the time since her passing, I have thrown myself into my work and focused on the things of God. I have become more involved in my faith, praying more than ever before. I can honestly say that my walk with the Lord is better than it has ever been, and that brings me great peace and contentment.

As I sat there with my friend, I reflected on the future and what it might hold for me. I explained to him that I am not actively seeking a new relationship. I am not on social media sites or looking to develop a romantic connection. My life has become simple and fulfilling. I spend my days eating, sleeping, fishing, praying, and immersing myself in God’s word. Each day is fulfilling, and I am content and happy with where I am at this moment.

However, I also shared with my friend that I am not closing the door on the possibility of finding love again. I am open to whatever God’s plan may be for my life. If He brings someone into my life, I will be open to it, but for now, I am content with where I am. I have no idea what the future holds, but I trust in God’s love and mercy.

I wanted to share this story because I know that many of you may be going through similar issues in your own lives. We all face the challenges and hardships that life throws at us. But there is a peace and contentment that can only come from God’s word. He loves you, cares about you, and wants the best for you. So, if you find yourself in a season of uncertainty or loss, turn to God’s word for comfort and guidance. He will provide the peace and contentment you seek.

I want to remind you that no matter what you are going through, there is hope and peace to be found in God’s word. Take comfort in knowing that He loves you, cares about you, and wants the best for you. Trust in His plan for your life, and find contentment in the present moment. Whether you are facing the loss of a loved one, navigating a difficult season, or simply seeking direction, turn to God and His word for guidance. He will provide the peace and contentment you need.
