I want to talk to you a bit about my adventure and walk with the Lord.
How the Bible impacted my life.
How it all started, and I’m going to capitalize it real quick and how it got me to where I’m at today doing some of the things I’m doing today sharing some things with you from my heart.
I was 35 years old, the Spirit of God started tugging at my heart.
I’d seen a lot of things in my life. I was reasonably successful in life. Business-wise — things were rocking and rolling, including a really good family life.
But to be completely honest, I never thought much about God. Fishing was my entire life.
Then my sister-in-law and brother gave me a call after I had just got back from a fishing tournament on Kentucky Lake. They asked if I wanted to go to Crosby, Minnesota, to a Christian outreach crusade held at a high school.
I have no idea who Lowell Lundstrom was, a crusade, music. I had no idea anything. I had just gotten home and wanted to take to my best friend, business partner, and brother about the fishing tournament I had just fished. I want to update him on everything that was happening.
We go to this thing, and I don’t understand what’s happening. All of a sudden (at the end of the talking and good music), Mr. Lundstrom invited anyone there to come up and turn your life over the Lord.
Suddenly, I see my brother get up, and there were tears in his eyes. I saw his wife grab his hand, and they both walked out of these bleachers and went down, and then they prayed for a period. I didn’t quite understand what’s happening other people getting out of these bleachers going up there. This was a foreign world to me.
My wife and I looked at each other like what you know well to advance the story.
I started to see significant changes in their lives — big-time changes. And along the way, my sister-in-law had my wife started going to church with her. After one service, my wife came bouncing in through the door and into the house with a big smile on her face. She said, “Guess what! I turned my life over to the Lord tonight! I asked Jesus to be Lord of my life!”
I was shocked. I remember thinking, holy mackerel, what’s going on.
For about two years, I started bumping into so many people I knew in the past that lived a little different lifestyle at this point in my life. They started talking about God, Jesus, church, prayer. I heard words like “hallelujah.”
Again, this went on for two years. I kept searching and looking, looking and searching. I studied things about the Bible, wondering: Could this be real? Is there something in this book that is is so powerful to change people’s lives?
Then one night, I got on my knee at 9:15 pm and turned my life over to the Lord.
I asked Jesus to forgive me for my sins and the bad things I did in my life.
I asked the Lord to come into my heart and guide me from this day forward. I believe you’re the son of God who died for my sins, and with your help, I’ll serve you. It was a simple confession of faith.
My life has never been the same, and here’s why. This is one of the mysteries of the Bible. It’s in second Corinthians 5;17. It says:
Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he’s a new creature; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
I started to think differently. Is this real?
After many years with my adventure in walking with the Lord — yeah, it’s real!
Things change; your thinking changes everything for the better. It’s for your own good, and I can’t say enough about it. Your spirit becomes alive.
It’s a different world with a whole new meaning, and it’s absolutely real.
Do you want a piece of the action? Do you want to be all-in? To commit to doing what the word of God says you should do to change your life forever, for the better?
