The Rapala OG Big Rocco 6 is a high-performance squarebill crankbait designed by professional angler Ott DeFoe as part of Rapala’s Ott’s Garage (OG) Series.
This lure is crafted from premium balsa wood, providing exceptional buoyancy and a natural swimming action. Its square circuit board lip enables it to deflect off cover and navigate through obstacles effectively.
When the bass are shallow and when the shoreline is thick with rocks, timber and other debris that bass just love, the answer to “What should I throw?” is the new OG Big Rocco 6.
The OG Big Rocco 6 is particularly effective in shallow water environments with structures like rocks, timber, and docks.
Its design allows it to deflect off cover and back out of tight spots, making it a versatile choice for anglers targeting bass in various freshwater conditions.
“The fact is fish go shallow. Having a bait that allows you to effectively fish heavy cover all year long is how tournaments get won. That’s what the OG Big Rocco 6 is all about,” said Rapala pro and professional bass pro Ott DeFoe.
From a passion of bait building as a childhood hobby to customizing lures as a professional angler, the Rapala OG Series is born of the sawdust from Ott DeFoe’s Garage.
The Rapala OG Big Rocco 6 is, by size, the big brother to the OG Rocco 5. It is a buoyant, round balsa bait with a square circuit board lip. Highly castable with medium rolling action, it deflects through cover and backs out of sticky situations.
“The Big Rocco is larger than the original Rocco,” said DeFoe. “We wanted a larger profile bait that runs down to six feet when fished with 14 lb. line.”
The new lure has a body length of 2-3/4 inches and weighs 5/8 oz. It features two super sharp No. 3 size VMC Black Nickel 1X Strong Hybrid Treble Hooks.
“At 5/8 oz., this lure has the extra weight to allow you to make long casts,” said DeFoe, “as well as accurate short roll casts, too. I wanted a larger bait that I could make those short, very targeted, very precise casts to get it into the cover.”
The OG Big Rocco 6 comes in 15 true-to-life colors, including:
Bruised Citrus Shad, Bream, Chartreuse Black, Classic Craw, Copper Green Shad, Chartreuse Rootbeer Crawdad, Citrus Shad, Dark Brown Crawdad, Green Gizzard Shad, Hot Copper Green Shad, Helsinki Shad, Red Crawdad, Rootbeer Crawdad, Silver, and Tuxedo Shad.
“With 15 colors, you’re going to be able to find a handful of colors that fit the water you’re fishing,” said DeFoe.
The OG Big Rocco 6 has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of US $13.99.
