Protection

A fun book titled “The Pocketbook of Angels.”

Angels are everywhere, and often more times than not, whether we know it or not — things happen for a reason.

On a fishing trip with my brother Ron and our friend Kurt, we’re going to fish a bass lake that we haven’t been to all year.

We take Kurt’s boat and get about five miles out of my hometown of Brainerd when he gets a flat tire on a trailer.

We pull off the side of the road. It’s a busy weekend cars are flying by. We pull the spare off, change the tire, and so on and s forth.

We get all of that done, look and the tires really low of air.

Kurt remembers that there’s a place just ahead, and we hope that maybe there’s someone around that can help us with some air.

Lo and behold, there’s one guy in the office who was just getting ready to leave for the day when we pull in. We tell him about our problem and ask if he can help us out.

“Yeah, no problem, drive around the back.”

He pumps the tire up with air and bingo, “Thank you, talk to you later, appreciate it, and we are back on the road.

Five minutes later, we are in another town called Motley and, boom, the tire blows again!

Now we have no spare and we’re in real deep doo-doo.

We hobble into a gas station, unhook the boat, remove the tire and head back to Brainerd with both blown tires.

We buy two new tires, get them mounted and full of air, and drive back to Motely. When it was all said and done, the entire ordeal took about three hours.

We’ve ran out of time to go to the particular lake, so I gave my wife a call the let her know we are turning around to come back and fish a lake closer to home. I also updated her on this whole thing and the first things she says in response is:

“God didn’t want you to go to that Lake today did he?

I had to stop and think about it. And, you know, the more I thought about it she was right. She reminded me that we pray every morning for safety and protection. There’s no question about it, she emphasizes, he didn’t want you going there.

I don’t know why you don’t know why but I know for sure that he didn’t in order to protect you.

I believe that with all of my heart.

How about you?
